IR Spectrophotometer

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR) is a single reflection ATR-IR (Attenuated Total Internal Reflectance) module which utilizes the phenomenon of Total Internal reflection. The infrared spectrum originates from the vibrational motion of the molecule. The vibrational frequencies are a kind of fingerprint of the compounds. A beam of IR Radiation entering a crystal will undergo total internal reflection when the angle of incidence at the interface between the sample and the crystal is greater than critical angle. In this way an evanescent wave penetrates into the sample in contact with the crystal producing IR spectrum of the sample. It is an easy-to-use FT-IR sampling method that is ideal for solids, liquids and very hard samples.

Background

Joined GSFC University in May 2017

Scholarship and Accomplishments

Dr. Parin Kanaiya has earned his doctoral degree in the field of chemistry with specialization in calix[4]resorcinarene, The aim of my research work was to synthesize different derivatives of calix[4]resorcinarene, and characterize them using different techniques like FT-IR, Elemental Analysis,1H &13C NMR and Mass spectra. Also studied their metal complexes with transition and rare earth metals using liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction techniques, also studied their antimicrobiological activity, further investigated dyeing application on Cotton, Wool and Silk herewith showed good results towards fastness and other parameters. Also carried out interaction study of water soluble calix[4]resorcinare with different surfactant. I was also appointed as a SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (S.R.F.) in CSIR RESEARCH SCHEME under the title of “Calix[4]resorcinarene and its Derivatives: An Emerging Class of Receptors for Ions/Organic analytes in Supramolecular Chemistry”.

Dr. Kanaiya has an experience of more than 13 years wherein he has served as an Assistant manager R&D in Transpek –Silox Industry Limited, Vadodara also worked for SAL Technical Campus: Sal Engineering and Technical Institute, Ahmadabad and then join GSFC University Vadodara. He thought organic chemistry, engineering chemistry and Drugs & Dyes to undergraduate and post graduate students. He has guided many students at undergraduate and post graduate level for their research work. Dr. Kanaiya has many publications with most of them being published in international Journals with good impact factor.
