Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS)

AAS is the measurement of absorption of radiation by free atoms. The total amount of absorption depends on the number of free atoms present and the degree to which the free atoms absorb the radiation. At the high temperature of the AA flame, which may be either oxy-acetylene as used here, or nitrous oxide/acetylene, the sample is broken down into atoms and it is the concentration of these atoms that is measured.

Specifications

Perkin Elmer model PinAAcle 900F (Flame) is a family of fully-integrated benchtop atomic absorption (AA) spectrometer with wavelength range of 184 – 900 nm.

SAMPLE Type

It is used in environmental testing, metal analysis, semiconductor manufacturing, petroleum and chemical production, and in pharmaceuticals.

Scholarship and Accomplishments

Dr. Rajani Pania is a proficient researcher. Broadly defined, Pania’s research interests are in inorganic synthesis, its application in the field of fertilizers and environmental chemistry, with a special focus on waste water treatment and its analysis. She is particularly interested in analysis of trace inorganic molecules present in water, and how simple chemical techniques can be used to identify and quantify analytes at low concentration, so that methods can be cost effective.

Dr. Rajani has a teaching experience of more than 15 years wherein she has served as Faculty in the Faculty of Science, Jai Narain Vyas University Jodhpur, Adarsh Science College Jodhpur, For 5 years in school and then, GSFC University. She teaches Basic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry to science students at M.Sc. and B.Sc. Program. She exposes students to science fundamentals and has chosen teaching to as a way to conduct research in education..

Dr. Pania has many publications with most of them being published in Journals. . One of the major publications is published in journal, Chemical Science Review and Letters Her paper titled “Efficient Recovery of Trapped Phosphorus from Waste Phosphogypsum of a Phosphoric Acid Plant” was recently published.
